Golf Tips For Women
Women at amateur level can be just as good as men. What they lose in distance they tend to make up in short game and accuracy. On the whole, men are stronger than women, and this is why women play off of different tees. Men play off of whites, yellows, or blues and women play off of reds. The tee is often set about 20 yards closer to the hole, which is often enough to fill the difference in distance off the tee between men and women. Just because men can hit the ball further, does not mean that they have an advantage over women, in fact, from my experience, women tend to be more accurate and consistent in hitting the greens and fairways.
The stroke index for a whole is the difficulty it has been awarded on that particular course. The stroke index is listed 1-18 (18 holes) 1 being the most difficult and 18 being the easiest. The stroke index rating is sometimes different for female golfers. A long par 4 for men can sometimes be a short par 5 for women, making it an easier hole to play for females. This can also lead the overall par of the course being higher or lower than the men’s total, but if you add in handicap systems, then this can be another advantage to female golfers.
A major problem for females in golf tends to be to lack of distances they are hitting can affect them mentally. But by hitting the ball shorter, it is far more accurate, and when you are playing every shot from tee to fairway then down the fairway to the green your scores are going to drop in no time. Iron shots or fairway woods are vastly important for females in golf because the majority of there shots will be going straight and down the fairway, and working on these can be very important, just making sure your swing is straight and consistent, and that your not hitting the ball too hard.
There is less of a selection for clubs for women in golf, because there are fewer women than men, but that does not mean you need to give up hope. Any local golf shop will give you advice on the best clubs for you. There are plenty of places on the internet to purchase good golf clubs for women, as well as club shops and golf shops as well.
I didn’t start playing golf until I joined the “real” world after college. Women need to understand that a lot of business relationships get strengthened by golfing. My favorites, though, are scrambles as there is less pressure on individual play and more on teamwork and camaraderie.
