Golf Tips For Mental Performance
The mental side of the golf game is just as important as the physical; it can be the most important factor having good or bad rounds of golf. Professional golfers all have psychological coaches, getting them prepared mentally for rounds and tournaments. Confidence also has a massive impact on your golf score, because when you are playing well, your confidence will be high and you will be playing at the top of your game. In there mentality this is where the main difference is between professional and amateur golfers; if a professional golfer has a bad hole or a bad round, their ability to bounce back and forget about the bad shots is phenomenal; but with the amateur golfers, their mentality often shows after a string of bad holes or bad rounds.
It is a difficult concept to remember the good holes, and the good shots, but forget about the bad ones. In fact, in reality it is the bad holes or shots that you remember, and the good ones you forget. Confidence, is such a factor in golf, if you are not confident then you are not playing well, and if you are not playing well, then you are not enjoying golf and are not going to want to play anymore. You have to realise that not every shot you hit, or not every round you play will be better than your last, but you have to try and remember what you did when you hit that best shot, or how if it felt when you got that low round, and your confidence will soon come back through.
Golf requires that you be disciplined enough to put yourself into a mental state to react, even when circumstances are not natural for doing so. There are things that you can do to help keep you concentrated on the round ahead, and be mentally strong enough to compete, but it ultimately comes from within you, and the confidence you must have in your own ability. Taking your time after hitting a bad shot, instead of rushing into hitting it, will give you time to focus, prepare and think about the best way to approach the shot ahead. If you have a bad hole, then do not try and over hit the ball on the next hole, or try and do something to magical, just remember to keep your swing steady and hitting the ball straight. If you have a bad round, it is just one of those things, and no golfer in history has had all good rounds, but you can tell who the mentally strong golfers are because they are the ones who will go from a high round to a low round without a blip in form.
