Golf Tips For Lefties

Being left handed is not a massive issue in life, because most things are designed with left and right handed people in mind. Golf is the same, but because there are many more right handed the world, the game is designed around right handed golfers. It is far harder for left handed golfers to buy equipment and get lessons. That is not to say that it is impossible, in fact far from it; with the internet, and golf shops now vastly increasing there stock of left handed equipment, and many golf professionals able to play with both hands, these days being left handed is seldom a problem. There is still more range in right handed equipment, but any major golf retailer now makes left handed clubs in every variety for more or less the same price. The internet has sites, and shops set up for left handed golfers to buy and sell old clubs and equipment. There are plenty of options around today that were not around a decade ago.

Left handed golfers can often have an advantage on the course as well, because of the stroke index rating. Although not true of all golfers, but the natural ball movement for a left hander in right to left, and for a right handed golfer, left to right. When the stroke index (difficulty of the hole rating) is being decided on how hard people find the hole, then the holes that dog leg left are going to be lower stroke index’s, but many left handed golfers will find them easier. From my experience, there are far more holes that dog leg left than right, making many courses easier to play for left handed players.

Previously it may have been hard for left handed golfer to get proper instruction or coaching because it is difficult for right handed golfers to teach left handed. It is not such a problem in the modern day because many golf professionals are able to play left handed to a low handicap, and therefore finds it far easier to teach left handed golfers. Instruction DVD’s or internet sites will now have left handed version, for left handed golfers to learn. Do not give up if your coach if you are being taught with right handed golfers and you are a ‘lefty’ because there is little to choose between the two in modern day golf.

  1. Hmm it appears like your website ate my first comment (it was extremely long) so I guess I’ll just sum it up what I had written and say, I’m thoroughly enjoying your blog. I too am an aspiring blog writer but I’m still new to everything. Do you have any helpful hints for beginner blog writers? I’d certainly appreciate it.
